Timbuk2 built its reputation on bicycle messenger bags, but the brand's new backpack will make you second-guess your commitment to the cross-body style. The design, called the Drift Knapsack, is part of the company's latest women's collection, which the CEO Patti Cazzato describes as "Timbuk2's solution to finding the perfect everyday bag."

It's the ideal size for commuting—big enough to fit your laptop, wallet, water bottle, and various other accoutrements—and it has two zipped side pockets for things you want to access without digging through the main body. (Think phone and keys.) There's also an internal drawstring to keep your stuff from spilling out.

The fabric has that sateen sheen that you often see on Lululemon gym bags, but the Timbuk2 style stands out because it doesn't look like a gym-only bag. The Drift would look equally appropriate for vacation or running errands. At $129, it's not cheap, but—since it's backed by Timbuk2's lifetime warranty—you can plan on keeping this backpack forever.

Check out more images, below. You can find the Drift at the TImbuk2 store in Hayes Valley (506 Hayes) and online.
