Hats are your friends. They help you block sun exposure to your face and scalp. They prevent body heat from escaping through your head on all those chilly San Francisco days. They add swagger to an outfit.

You need more hats, and no one wants you to go broke buying toppers; fortunately, there's a Goorin Bros. sample sale this week.

The San Francisco-based hat company is setting up shop at 1749 Union Street (between Octavia and Gough) for three days this week to clear out old inventory. Prices will start at $10, and—if past sales are any indication—will likely top out around the $60 mark. Typically, the $10 options are baseball caps and bucket hats—think cloth hats that don't have to hold their form. Fedoras and heritage are the most expensive, but they'll be substantially discounted from retail prices.

The sale runs Thursday, August 2–Saturday, August 4 from 11 am to 6 pm daily in Cow Hollow. (If you've attended the sale in the past in SoMa, note the new location.) The selection is always best on the first day, so let your boss know you'll be late to work on Thursday.
