Meet the App That's Like OpenTable for Beauty

Sorry for the cheap headline. For years, I've received pitches from companies claiming to be the Uber of manicures or the Netflix of handbags, etc, etc. I know it's annoying. But I swear it was the easiest way to explain the Tru app: it makes booking a haircut, massage, or facial just as easy as booking a dinner reservation.

From the app, you enter the name of the salon or stylist you're looking for, or the type of service you need. If you're open to adventure, the app will direct you to service providers near your location. If you like to stick with someone you know, that's cool, too.

Once you've landed on a salon and provider, use the calendar scheduling menu to choose the date and time for your appointment. You can even enter your credit card info through the app to secure the appointment. For me, that's a major perk because it means I can book appointments while Ubering around town without reading my credit card number over the phone in front of strangers. (Also, I feel rude making calls in an Uber.)

If you have an iPhone, do yourself a favor and download Tru for free in the iTunes store, then use it to book hair appointments, mani and pedis, massages, waxing, facials, and more. If your favorite spot isn't currently hooked up, send them a referral through the app. The company is always on the lookout to add new salons.
